Portrait Landscapes

By lhrybyk

I’ve started a new series of paintings that are portrait/landscapes. Using photographic portraits as my ground, I am weaving an on site landscape painting into it. While painting this particular one I was consumed with energy. Two spirits colliding…that was the feeling I was going for at least. It came out fairly balanced, but the one that I finished after this had an uneasy feeling. I suspect that dynamic will continue throughout the series.

laurent this is fantastic. amazing how the landscape holds up against the face peering in. you have found a balance in this painting which is at once eerie and magical. bravo. what did you print the photo on? what kindof paper are you painting on?

It’s on photo paper mounted on water color paper. Then I used a clear gesso to prime it.
